My name is Stenley, founder of Cans & Brush. Starting a company has always been a dream of mine, but the journey toward making that dream a reality has not always been easy. Along the way, I learned that building a business is not only about having a skill—it is also about having the right knowledge, character, discipline, and leadership.
At the end of my teenage years, I made the decision to volunteer with my church for two years in Europe. That experience became an important chapter in my life. I learned the value of integrity, honesty, diligence, leading by example, and giving my very best when serving others. Most importantly, I gained the real-life experience and perspective I had been looking for.
Two years later, I travelled to South Korea for a temporary job. A few months after arriving, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and I had to remain in Korea and continue working. It was another challenging but valuable experience. Working alongside Koreans taught me a completely different level of discipline, commitment, and work ethic. I thought I already understood what it meant to work hard—until I experienced it firsthand in Korea. That experience changed the way I looked at work and strengthened my determination to always give my best.
During my time there, I worked as an Assembly Technician, with the work overseen by Samsung engineers, where I learned the importance of teamwork, precision, productivity, and responsibility. Every person had a role to play, and the quality of the final product depended on everyone doing their part well. We were expected to maintain the highest quality possible while working efficiently and meeting the standards and deadlines promised to our customers.
These experiences shaped the way I approach work today.
